How the Training Works
Blended Format (Recommended)
Our blended class lets your staff complete foundational coursework online, then attend a single in-person day for hands-on skills training.
- Day 1 — E-Learning (Self-Paced): Chapters 1 & 2 cover relational foundations and de-escalation skills. Students complete this online before attending the in-person session.
- Day 2 — In-Person: Chapters 3 & 4 cover technical self-protection and holding skills. Hands-on practice, scenario-based training, and certification assessment.
CLI’s blended course covers Mandt Relational and Technical content. Maryland DDA providers should compare the course content and delivery method with the current DDA Provider Training Matrix, each staff member’s role, and any applicable behavior plan.
Standard In-Person Format
Prefer a traditional classroom experience? We also offer the full two-day, in-person certification training.
- Day 1: Relational and communication foundations (Chapters 1 & 2)
- Day 2: Applied skills and scenario-based practice (Chapters 3 & 4)
Both days are instructor-led at a scheduled location.
Location & Scheduling
Check the Arlo catalog for public class dates, or contact us to request a private blended class. Private classes can be scheduled for small teams, including groups as small as four, and may be held onsite at your agency or in a family home when that makes training easier.
Invoicing & Reimbursement
Invoicing is available for organizations enrolling multiple staff. If you are coordinating training for a DDA provider, agency team, or family-directed support group, contact us before registering so we can help with scheduling, invoicing, and group logistics.
